- Compared with a wallet: promotional credits are discounts you grant, not funds the customer prepays. They reduce the invoice amount before tax instead of paying it.
- Compared with the account balance: promotional credits are available for future invoices, not to settle amounts already due. Granting €100 in promotional credits leaves an existing €500 debt unchanged; the €100 discounts the next eligible invoices.
Promotional balance is available on request. Contact support via the in-app chat to enable it for your account.
View the promotional balance
On the customer’s Overview, click Promotions on the Balance card. The button shows the remaining promotional amount in parentheses and opens the Promotional balance page. The page shows two totals in the customer’s currency:- Balance: the amount still available, excluding amounts already applied to invoices, including drafts.
- Applied to invoices: the total applied to invoices, including drafts, minus amounts restored when invoices are cancelled. Manual additions and removals do not count toward this total.
Add or remove promotional credits
- Open the customer’s Promotional balance page.
- Click Actions > Add or Remove. If there is no activity yet, click Add in the empty table.
- Enter the Amount and, optionally, a Reason.
- Confirm with Add or Remove.
How discounts apply
Hyperline applies the available balance as one invoice-level Promotional discount, after other discounts and before tax. It distributes the discount across eligible positive line items to calculate tax correctly. Any amount left over remains available for later invoices in the same currency. Promotional discounts do not apply to credit notes, wallet top-ups, credit product purchases, or imported invoices. Granting a promotional balance does not change an already finalized invoice.Previews, drafts, and cancellations
- Previews show the expected promotional discount without changing the balance or creating activity.
- Saved drafts reserve the amount immediately. This also applies to invoices in a grace period or awaiting requested changes. Editing the draft recalculates its discount and reservation.
- Consolidated invoices reserve the amount on the combined invoice, rather than on the individual invoices waiting to be grouped.
- Finalization keeps the draft’s discount without deducting the amount again.
- Deleting a draft or voiding an invoice restores its applied amount to the promotional balance.
Example 💡
A customer owes €500 on an existing invoice and receives €100 in promotional credits. Their account balance stays at −€500. A new invoice for €200 before tax uses the €100 promotional balance, leaving €100 before tax to pay. If you delete that new invoice while it is still a draft, the €100 becomes available again.
