What is Peppol

Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) is a standardized network that enables businesses to exchange electronic documents, including invoices, securely and seamlessly across borders. By connecting to the Peppol network, you can send legally compliant e-invoices directly to your customers’ accounting systems, reducing manual processing, eliminating paper, and ensuring faster payment cycles. Peppol uses a four-corner model where certified Access Points handle the secure transmission of documents between parties.

Setup

Before sending invoices via Peppol, you need to register your Hyperline account with the Peppol network. Navigate to Settings > Invoicing (select the appropriate invoicing entity if you have multiple), enable Peppol, and enter your Peppol credentials. After uploading the required documents, the registration process can take up to 72 hours. Once registered, invoices will be automatically sent via Peppol.
Hyperline transmits invoices using the Peppol BIS Billing UBL Invoice/CreditNote V3 format.

Routing

By default, invoices are routed to the customer (Belgian Peppol Participant) using the standard format with their enterprise number from the Belgian Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (scheme 0208). This corresponds to the VAT number (tax ID) in Hyperline without the country code. For example, if the customer’s tax ID is BE123456789, the enterprise number is 123456789, and invoices will be routed to the participant ID 0208:123456789. You can verify a customer’s participant ID in the Peppol Directory.

Custom routing

If your customer uses a different participant ID than the standard one, Hyperline allows you to manually set the participant ID on their customer details page. Click the Edit button in the Information section and scroll down to the E-invoicing code field, where you can enter the complete participant ID (including scheme and code, in the format XXXX:XXXXXXXXX).
